
CropLife Indonesia, in collaboration with IPB University, held a pivotal workshop titled “New Breeding Technology – Engineering Crops for a Sustainable Future” on September 21 in Bali. The event brought together experts and stakeholders to explore the role of genome editing and new breeding technologies in shaping the future of agriculture in Indonesia and the region.
Featuring speakers from National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), CropLife Asia, the Malaysian Biotechnology Information Centre (MABIC), and the Asia and Pacific Seed Alliance (APSA), the workshop provided both global and regional perspectives on regulatory frameworks and innovations in crop science. The agenda emphasized the importance of science-based approaches to biotechnology and encouraged open dialogue among researchers, academics, and students.
Participants reported a notable increase in awareness and understanding of new breeding technologies with many expressing greater confidence in the role of genome editing in future agricultural systems.
